I have been hired as a creative director for an all-natural makeup ad campaign for Alima Pure. We had our first test shoot in the studio last week. I can’t yet unveil the campaign concept, but here are a few fun photos from the shoot!

Carmen Ranch: Grass-Fed-To-Harvest Beef
Revere me.
Take me, sparingly and with careful consideration.
Let me live freely for the short time I am here.
I live for you.
…Consider only purchasing grass-fed-to-harvest beef from places such as Carmen Ranch in Eastern Oregon, or none at all.
Assignment: FIN Restaurant
Just completed a series of photos for the new restaurant, FIN. (Some of the images definitely need contrast boost…not sure why they appear flat in the article.)
If you like raw fish prepared in a delicate manner, you will love FIN!
Assignment: Gerry Frank
Gerry Frank is da BOMB! Here he is with one of his famous cakes. (Image was shot originally for 1859 Magazine so I needed to include white space for text.)
His Konditorei in Salem is a lively place, full of wonderful things to eat. It also seems to be a warm gathering place for many wonderful characters.
This image was also blown up life size at The Bite this year. I wish I had been in town to see it!
White Bird Dance Assignment: Wally and Paul
White Bird Dance rocks my world. I relish each performance and it is exciting to see how the world is brought to Portland via dance through this program series. Yesterday I had the pleasure of walking through the Rose Garden with the founders, Walter Jaffe and Paul King, so that we could create a series of images for their program and promotions.
And yes, Barney was there also, and created quite the frenzy as people greeted him!
Elephant’s Deli Assignment
Just finished a two-day shoot at Elephant’s Deli, where we shot a “Day In The Life” series of images. Products, displays, customers, chefs, ‘zas baking….we covered it all.
Best of all, I got to sample some of their amazing food!
Oregon Ballet Theater Approves Ad
I am very excited about some great news today! While creating the headshots of all ballet dancers who dance at Oregon Ballet Theater, I kept thinking about a potential ad for them that would enable the general public to get to know the dancers a bit more intimately. I contacted my ad agency friend and told him what I was thinking. He created some quick concepts, we met with the marketing team at OBT, and they liked the ad.
I than contacted the editor at 1859 Magazine, asked about potentially running the ad, and today they told me that they will be the first to run the ad. A full page ad will run in their Winter 2010 issue.
Here is the ad. I would like this campaign to run as a series using all of the dancers’ photos and words. We are also looking at changing the font type to be each dancer’s handwriting instead of text.

Oregon Ballet Theater Assignment
I was lucky to be able to photograph all of the Oregon Ballet Theater dancers this month. There is so much that goes into each performance, and it was an honor to be able to spend a bit of time with each dancer. I very much look forward to this season’s performances! Here are some samples of those images.
